Lung Cancer Screening

November 5, 2013

Seton Imaging Center is now offering lung cancer screening for current or former smokers at high risk for developing lung cancerĀ for only $60. Low-dose CT lung screening has been proven to save lives of long-term smokers by finding cancers early. Early detection is a proven, successful strategy for fighting lung cancer. The low-dose CT scan is a quick, painless, and non-invasive approach to screen for lung cancer. It uses no contrast injections and requires nothing to swallow by mouth. At Seton Imaging Center, we are committed to reducing radiation exposure and follow radiation safety techniques. The amount of radiation exposure from low-dose CT is about 5 times less than conventional CT scans and the equivalent of about 15 chest x-rays.

Friday Nov. 8 is the second annual International Day of Radiology (IDoR). Seton Imaging Center is a proud participant in this special day, which focuses on the important role lung imaging plays in the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases. The goal of IDoR is to raise awareness that medical imaging and research are essential to modern health care.
